(English) In the area of architecture and construction, natural cement is the least known of traditional conglomerates. Most professionals in the sector who are interested in conglomerates have broad knowledge of the two types of lime and perhaps even of traditional plaster. However, they do not tend to be informed about natural cement. The aim of this thesis is to provide information about this type of cement in terms of how important its industry was in Catalonia and its meaning today. With this idea, we have organised the research into two parts. The first part provides a historical study of the material. It examines the first written references that reached us here, long before natural cement began to be manufactured, when and where the first natural cement was produced, how and where this industry spread around Catalonia, which types of natural cements were manufactured, their characteristics and properties, how and where they were manufactured, the first regulations governing the material, its uses, etc. This production was anonymous but relevant, with over a hundred and fifty years of history, from its beginnings in the mid-nineteenth century to the current time, spread out among various regions of Catalonia: Gironès, Alt Empordà, Ripollès and Berguedà, among many others. The second part, which we have called the present, is set from the transitory period of the civil war and postwar up to the study of natural cements that are manufactured today. A total of four quick-setting natural cements are examined. We have discovered their properties, characteristics, specific features, strengths and weaknesses. |

La majoria de professionals del sector, interessats pels conglomerants, coneixen abastament els dos tipus de calçs i potser també el guix tradicional, però és poc habitual que estiguin al corrent del ciment natural. Aquesta tesi pretén precisament, donar a conèixer aquest tipus de ciment, per una banda, com d’important va ser la seva indústria a Catalunya, i per l’altre quina és la seva significació en el dia d’avui. Amb aquesta idea, hem estructurat la recerca en dues parts; una primera d’estudi històric del material; les primeres referències escrites que ens van arribar aquí, molt abans que es comencés a fabricar, quan i on va produir-se el primer ciment natural, com i on es va difondre aquesta indústria arreu del país, quins tipus de ciments naturals es van fabricar, les seves característiques i propietats, com i on es comercialitzava, les primeres normatives reguladores del material, usos, etc. Una producció anònima, però que ha estat rellevant, amb més de cent cinquanta anys d’història, des dels seus inicis a mitjan segle XIX fins a l’actualitat, i repartida en diverses regions del país: el Gironès, l’Alt Empordà, el Ripollès, el Berguedà, entre moltes altres. La segona part, que hem anomenat l’avui, emmarcat des de l’etapa transitòria de la guerra civil i la postguerra, fins arribar a l’estudi dels ciments naturals fabricats en l’actualitat, en total quatre ciments naturals d’adormiment ràpid, i que n’hem descobert les seves propietats, característiques i particularitats, fent una valoració final de les seves fortaleses i debilitats.(Español) El cemento natural es, en el ámbito de la arquitectura y la construcción, el gran desconocido de los conglomerantes tradicionales. La mayoría de profesionales del sector, interesados por los conglomerantes, conocen ampliamente los dos tipos de cales y quizás también el yeso tradicional, pero es poco habitual que estén al corriente del cemento natural. Esta tesis pretende precisamente dar a conocer este tipo de cemento, por un lado, lo importante que fue su industria en Catalunya, y por otro cuál es su significación hoy en día. Con esta idea, hemos estructurado la investigación en dos partes; una primera de estudio histórico del material; las primeras referencias escritas que nos llegaron aquí, mucho antes de que se empezara a fabricar, cuándo y dónde se produjo el primer cemento natural, cómo y dónde se difundió esta industria en todo el país, qué tipos de cementos naturales se fabricaron, sus características y propiedades, cómo y dónde se comercializaba, las primeras normativas reguladoras del material, usos, etc. Una producción anónima, pero que ha sido relevante, con más de ciento cincuenta años de historia, desde sus inicios a mediados del siglo XIX hasta la actualidad, y repartida en diversas regiones del país: el Gironès, l’Alt Empordà, el Ripollès, el Berguedà, entre otras muchas.
