Sumario:The 'Albera' bovine is a Catalan breed, with a reduced census, that is located in the E of the Pyrenees. In spite of quite numerous scientific studies about the breed, mainly genetic ones, little information is available on its meat aptitude. In this brief paper we present the commercial information of a carcass from a castrated yearling of this breed, including a comparison with those from of other races fattened by the same farmer. The"Albera" carcass presented R grade conformation and a fattening level. Both values are even superior to that of the other compared breeds. It would be interesting to make use of more commercial information that could be gathered in slaughterhouses for any vulnerable breed, as these commercial data are the real indicators of the commercial value of a breed.
