Resumo:Developing mathematical competencies in students with intellectual disabilities is challenging due to the abstract nature of the concepts. Integrating technology into classrooms has improved motivation and attitudes towards routine learning tasks. This study explored whether gamification could enhance mathematical skills in 57 students (aged 18–30) enrolled in a professional development programme. The sample included an experimental group (28) and a control group (29). Results showed significant improvements in calculation and problem-solving for the experimental group, demonstrating gamification’s effectiveness in supporting both basic and advanced mathematical skills. These findings underscore its potential as a valuable educational tool and foundation for future research.
