Descripción
Sumario:Holocene higstands deposits over the northern continental shelf of the Alboran Sea in the Guadalhorce river area, have been studied by means of high resolution seismic profiles and vibrocorer samples, and the high resolution stratigrahic caracterization have been carried out. These deposits developed constitute a thick sedimentary wedge composed of five seismic units: unit 1.- aggradational and transparente; unit 2- a weak one with an oblique-progradational configuration; unit 3- aggradational and transparent; unit 4.- a weak one with a sigmoidal-oblique progradational configuration, and unit 5.- aggradational and transparent. This structure is a consequence of two "major" relative sea levels asymmetrical cycles that took place in the Late Holocene, and were modulated at a minor scale by four sea levels cycles: a) 3600-3000 y; b) 2500-2000 & 1000-800 y; c) 400-300 y and d) 300-250 y. These minor cycles could be global and could generate asymmetrical microsequences in the sedimentary record
