| Resumo: | Carmen de Burgos (Almería, 1867-Madrid, 1932) was a writer of immense culture, to whom she always guided a longing for modernity and social justice. During the fi rst three decades of the twentieth century, she created more than a hundred short and long novels, literary studies, travel books, biographies, translations, essays, etc.... She was the fi rst woman editor of a newspaper, with a fi xed column, and published thousands of articles in the main Spanish publications and in many of Europe and America. As a lecturer, she shone in the most prestigious stands inside and outside Spain. She also received honors and tributes in different countries, and arrived to chair national and international feminist organizations. All of her pioneering work dedicated to the defense of women’s equality, in the legal, social and political spheres, was de - ployed in articles and in numerous essays, culminating in 1927 with the publication of La mujer moderna y sus derechos . |
