Resumo:Tierra del Fuego is surely one of the most unique cultural landscapes in Chile and in the world, because it constitutes an extreme landscape. This article argues this qualification, which requires an equally unique recognition. Within the panorama that this issue of Identities dedicated to Chile shows, this article also explores in this area a design interpretation, a territorial project of enhancement at the service of its countrymen, beyond from the claim to encourage the amount of tourist visits. This proposal requires a careful analysis of the territory based on its formal structure, its physical image and its historical construction; reading the inherited landscape as an historical compendium of successive cultures.
