Resumo:This article proposes an analysis on the evolution of the American Dream concept through its nuclear and dynamic aspects, according to the sociopolitical trends spread by Hollywood and its representation in mainstream motion pictures. The study traces a time arc from the self-indulgent individualism of the 1990s to the recent scenarios of a crisis marked by terrorism, the mortgage crisis, and the tensions between liberties and security, according to the filmic and social imagery in the 21st century.
