| Sumario: | This thesis explores the impact of spatial fragmentation, social exclusion, and urban regeneration strategies in Barcelona’s mass housing estates, with a particular focus on Besòs-Maresme and Ciutat Meridiana. These neighborhoods, shaped by historical urban policies and socio-economic challenges, exemplify the intersection between physical disconnection and socio-economic marginalization. Through spatial analysis, urban morphology studies, and policy evaluation, the research examines how public space interventions, ground-floor activation, and improved connectivity can enhance urban vitality and community resilience. The study assesses the effectiveness of the Pla de Barris regeneration program, identifying both its achievements and its limitations, particularly regarding long-term affordability, gentrification risks, and governance sustainability. |
