Descrição
Resumo:[EN] This paper aims to document the constructive solution applied to cover the staircase space executed during the 16th-century expansion of the Monastery of Santa María de Piedra, through the execution of timbervaults. We present a study on the constructive development of the solution employed, as well as a formal analysis of the geometric model that had to be intervened upon to recover and rehabilitate the staircase space. Compared to stone vaults, the efficiency of timbervaults is evident in aspects such as economy of means, speed of execution, and lightness. All of this has led to this system being valued and implemented in various periods of construction history.
