Descripción
Sumario:Oxalis latifolia is a weed with a tropical, temperate and mediterranean distribution. It invades orchards, plant nurseries, gardens and corn fi elds. Although some mechanical and cultural methods and some herbicides may achieve excellent controls over this weed, their application is usually diffi cult and expensive. However, some specifi c characteristics in its annual life cycle make O. latifolia quite vulnerable. That is why the combinations of adequate control methods, such as ploughs, delay of sowing and mulches together with residual or foliar herbicides, are necessary to seek for each crop and climate, always taking in care the weed’s biological particularities. Finally, new research lines that are less known in order to make the most of O. latifolia, such as its allelopathic characteristics or its use as a cover plant, are pointed out
