| Sumario: | Despite the undeniable achievements of medicinal chemistry in the search for new compounds with neuroprotective activity, there is currently no approved effective drug with a promising profile to effectively treat neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, among others. Four representative N-benzyl-2-[4-(aryl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl]ethan-1-imine oxides, which have been shown to be good antioxidants, were selected to evaluate their neuroprotective potency. N-Benzyl-2-[4-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl]ethan-1-imine oxide (2) exhibited strong antioxidant effects comparable to melatonin; however, the lack of efficacy in reversing okadaic acid-induced toxicity highlights the need for further structural optimization to broaden its neuroprotective spectrum. |
