description El articulo analiza la transformación de la estación de ferrocarril de Canfranc en hotel de gran lujo. Se trata de un elemento con una gran carga simbólica en el imaginario aragonés ya que su inauguración supone la culminación de la construcción de un paso transfronterizo que une Zaragoza con Francia. La estación de Canfranc se convierte desde ese momento en el elemento más representativo de la línea que se mantiene abierta hasta un accidente acaecido en el año 1970. Este suceso supone el cierre del paso, pero también el inicio de una lucha por su reapertura que llega hasta nuestros días. Desde los años noventa del siglo XX hasta el momento actual se han sucedido una serie de proyectos que tienen como finalidad reactivar la estación y su entorno para convertirla en un polo de atracción económica al mismo tiempo que garantizar su conservación. El resultado de todo el proceso ha supuesto la transformación del entorno en un jardín ferroviario y la refuncionalización de la estación para convertirla en un hotel de lujo, en un proceso donde el conjunto ferroviario ha perdido su lectura de conjunto y la estación se ha sometido a un proceso de remodelación integral que ha supuesto la pérdida de sus valores históricos.

It is a highly symbolic element in the Aragonese imaginary, as its inauguration represents the culmination of the construction of a cross-border crossing linking Zaragoza with France. From that moment on, Canfranc station became the most representative element of the line, which remained open until an accident occurred in 1970. This event meant the closure of the pass, but also the beginning of a struggle for its reopening that has lasted up to the present day. From the 1990s to the present day, a series of projects have been carried out to reactivate the station and its surroundings in order to turn it into a centre of economic attraction while at the same time guaranteeing its conservation. The result of the whole process has been the transformation of the surroundings into a railway garden and the refunctionalisation of the station to convert it into a luxury hotel, in a process in which the railway complex has lost its overall interpretation and the station has undergone a process of comprehensive remodelling that has led to the loss of its historical values.Esta investigación se desarrolla en el marco del proyecto de investigación Paisajes Culturales en Aragón.
