| Sumario: | The thesis is an overview of vernacular literature produced in Naples in the opening decades of the 16th century, paying particular attention to the 1530s, when the Spanish poet Garcilaso de la Vega lived there. Written from an original and multifaceted perspective, which comprises disciplines that are usually discrete (history, sociology, Spanish philology, Italian philology), it contributes to a better understanding of the phenomenon of the court in the period and place indicated, studying the reality of the court system—particularly, the court of the Ávalos family, between Ischia and Naples—and its relationship with the cultural, historical and ideological environment that underlies the development of the vernacular literature written in Naples in the 1530s |
