Sumario:The main focus of this thesis is to examine gender feminism from both a theoretical and an empirical perspective. For this aim, several works on the standard gender feminism model, that have been already published or are under review, are presented in English and in Spanish. Firstly, I analyse two main arguments that underline most feminist theories: a) we live in a sex/gender system so-called patriarchy, and b) the origin of that system, as well as the origin of sex differences is social. The first argument has been critiqued by quite a few scholars who dissent from the gender view, that is dominant in contemporaneous feminism. The second argument has to face mounting evidence supporting the non-social origin of some main differences between men and women. As a result, a new branch of feminism claims that some phenomena traditionally addressed by environmental theories should be rather studied from an evolutionary point of view. The darwinian feminist proposal is introduced in this thesis. In addition, I present three empirical works that studied sex differences in moral and social preferences in an experimental manner. In particular, it is shown that sex per se does not always predict moral and social preferences of either sexes when other more powerful experimental variables affect the salience of sex differences. Therefore, most experimental research on gender differences is too focused on the gender approach. This fact may lead to biased results, that do not take into account interactional effects. In conclusion, gender feminism deals with some main deficiencies both on the theoretical and empirical level that compromises its claims and conclusions.
