| Resumo: | Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome characterized by an abrupt decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) over a short period of time (hours or days). It can result from multiple etiologies, and its common presentation is an increase in serum levels of nitrogenous waste products, which may or may not be accompanied by a decrease in urine output (in two-thirds of cases). In this document, we use the term acute kidney injury (AKI), in accordance with KDIGO. |
