Resumo:[EN] The Archaeological Area of las Médulas (León) constituten an ideal setting in North-West of Spain to gain an understanding of both the new mining technologu and the true extent of the historical and cultural change it signified. This paper tries to show the main trends of the formation of such a mining cultural landscape, from the time of the Pre-Roman castros (hilforts) to the ultimate desertion of the Roman gold mines.
