Descripción
Sumario:The case to be discussed is that of an enigmatic copper plate by the Flemish painter Willem van Herp. The author identifies its source of inspiration while highlighting its unusual iconography, which can also be associated with literary and musical compositions of the time. By comparing this piece with his other works, a possible chronology may be adduced as well and the presence of a self-portrait of the artist in the scene suggested.
