| Sumario: | Cultural magazines in general, and literary magazines in particular, have a reviews section where the latest literary works of the time are discussed. The comparative study of these sections (taking the reviews of Catalan poetry as our field) in five literary magazines of the 1920s and 30s (La Mà Trencada, Revista de Poesia, La Nova Revista, Quaderns de Poesia and Rosa dels Vents) allows us to identify several trends (also present in other publications of the time), such as the fact that the majority of reviewers were young writers, or that the review styles were quite varied, ranging from the critical in-depth analysis of a work to the brief comment that only aims to account for the publication of a new book. Of the three functions that one can attribute to these reviews -informative, evaluative and discursive-, the first is the least commonly used, the third is chosen only by those authors who are already engaged in literary criticism and the second, the evaluative, is the most widely chosen by the reviewers. |
