| Sumario: | The archaeological and historical sciences offer sufficient information to date the Old Testament biblical texts, as they crystallized and reached us, in the last years of Persian domination of the Fertile Crescent. The study of the information offered by the documents found in Elephantine suggests a pre-biblical Judaism not based on a system of sacred texts until some advanced time in the fourth century BCE. This data may surprise readers as does the existence of a Jewish temple in the southern Egypt in the fifth century BCE. |
