| Sumario: | The objective of this study is to analyze the perception of the residents of the city of Valencia on the social impact of the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon and to identify the factors in which the indicators of perceived impacts are grouped. A sample of 391 residents in the city was collected through a convenience sampling, with a mean age of 34.26 (SD=11.78) and a distribution of 56.5% were men and 43.5% were women. Thirty-two items were used, evaluated on a five-point Likert scale, about possible benefits and costs associated with holding the event in the city. An exploratory factorial analysis was carried out that allowed identifying five factors: economic benefits and image of the city (5 items), social benefits (5 items), pride and identification with the community (3 items), sports impact (4 items), and socioeconomic problems (5 items). Residents positively value the event’s impact on aspects related to economic benefits and city image, pride and identification with the community, and impact on sport, showing a more neutral trend in social benefits and socioeconomic problems. The practice of sport is a variable that significantly influences the perception of citizens, while gender or level of education does not seem to influence most factors. Finally, as age increases, there is a tendency to value more strongly the possible socioeconomic problems derived from hosting the event. |
