description ENG- Human trafficking, a phenomenon that egregiously violates the integrity and dignity of its victims, is widely acknowledged as one of the foremost global threats in the 21st century. The United Nations emerged as the pioneering international organization in spearheading the combat against this phenomenon, thereby laying the groundwork for other supranational bodies of regional scope, such as the European Union, to promulgate a diverse array of regulations aimed at its regulation over recent decades. The purpose of this investigation is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the protection mechanisms afforded to victims of human trafficking within the framework of the European Union, from the perspective of International Human Rights Law. Consequently, this study encompasses scrutiny of both the normative framework of the European Union and the pertinent documents associated with the ongoing amendment process. In parallel, the corpus of International Human Rights Law is analyzed, evaluating its potential influence in strengthening the regulations. This study observes that the existing and forthcoming regulatory frameworks within the European Union on the combat against human trafficking are deficient and lack the requisite precision to ensure the full adherence to the implicated Human Rights standards

Les Nacions Unides fou la primera organització internacional a impulsar la lluita contra el tràfic de persones, assentant les bases perquè altres ens supranacionals d’àmbit regional, com ara la Unió Europea, hagin pogut establir durant les darreres dècades normatives diverses per la seva regulació. Aquesta investigació té per objecte el sistema de protecció de les víctimes de tràfic de persones en el marc de la Unió Europea, en la perspectiva del Dret Internacional dels Drets Humans; d’aquí que s’analitzi tant el marc normatiu de la Unió Europea com els documents que acompanyen el procés d’esmena que ha pesat sobre aquest, i que, d’una manera paral·lela, s’examini el corpus del Dret Internacional dels Drets Humans i s’avaluï la seva influència potencial en el reforçament de la normativa.
