| Summary: | [EN] Biodiversity is our natural capital, delivering ecosystem services that underpin our economy. This makes biodiversity degradation one of the most critical global environmental threats. 'Our life insurance, our natural capital: an European Union biodiversity strategy to 2020' was established by the European Commission in May 2011 for reversing biodiversity loss and speeding up the EU's transition towards a resource efficient and green economy. So, the problem of landscape degradation and ecosystems fragmentation is one of the greatest threats for biodiversity. Thus, European Commission has decided that it is necessary to restore at least 15 per cent of degraded ecosystems before year 2020. The problem shown above can be addressed on different scales, but it is also necessary to study the restoration on small scale, under the action 6b of EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020. This research work has focused on implementing environmental criteria in decision making during roadway project assessment to restore large cut slopes generated by existing infrastructures. This paper presents an expert system, combining the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the Delphi method and the VIKOR technique, capable of dealing with environmental criteria together with traditional technical and economical criteria. Taking this methods, it will be shown the importance of security and environmental factors, usually infraconsidered, and as well the major suitability of one of the technologies of restoration, cut and cover tunnels, on the other proposed alternatives. |
