| Resumo: | [EN] This article explores the influence of different political processes in the proindependence thought and program of Joaquín Infante during the liberal revolutions of the early nineteenth century and, in particular, his vision of his birthplace Cuba and of Continental Spanish America. The paper is divided into three sections. The first refers to the influence in the development of his proindependence thought of the Haitian revolution, his links with Masonic lodges and his participation in the struggle for emancipation from Spain in Caracas. The second section analyses Cuba’s first constitution, written by Infante. Finally, we consider the text which Infante wrote in 1820 on Spain’s position regarding emancipation processes in Latin America. |
