| Sumario: | The relevance of the translation activity from African postcolonial literature carried out in Cuba throughout the second half of the 20th century constitutes an isolated phenomenon in the history of literary translation into Spanish. There are very few studies outside Cuban territory and it has hardly been analyzed from a translation studies perspective. Because of this, this research study, cataloguing African literary texts translated in Cuba and providing a description and assessment of the phenomenon in all its dimensions, can be especially useful for understanding the complex social and ideological implications that surround translation as the best mediator between cultures. At the same time, this research seeks both to provide new data for the history of literary translation in Cuba and contribute to the opening of new avenues of research in this field. |
