Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This article describes the intervention carried out on the stage of the Roman Theatre of Medellín (Badajoz, Spain) from January to April 2011. This theatre, dating from the final years of the 1st century BC, was abandoned, plundered and occupied by various buildings throughout the Middle Ages. Archaeological excavations carried out from 2007 to 2010 brought to light the remains of the building. In the case of the stage, the original remains were used as the foundation on which to underpin the conservation, which combined an archaeological reading, anastylosis, consolidation and architectural contributions. The intervention made it possible to conserve the remains, deepen our knowledge about them, and recover entrances and routes that enable tourist visits and recovery for theatrical use (fig. 1). Since it opened to the public in 2013, it has received many visits, and is currently one of the venues of the International Classical Theatre Festival of Mérida.
