Sumario:[EN] In this article, three cartographic models realized during the government of the archbishop of Mexico Francisco de Lorenzana are studied —some anonymous diagrammatical paintings with the villages and the routes of the diocese as well as the general maps of the territory and the Atlas eclesiástico de el Arzobispado de México by José Antonio de Alzate—. This diversity of coetaneous maps, promoted by the archbishopric of Mexico for the administration of its territory, allows us to delve into the mechanisms of use and valuation of the territorial representations paying attention to the functionality and the spatial practices associated with cartographical drawing
