Sumario:One experiment was conducted to study the chemical composition and the effects of inclusion of full-fat sunflower kernel (FFSK) (0, 50, 100 y 150 g kg-1) in diets for broiler chickens on performance and fatty acids concentration of abdominal fat. The addition of FFSK in the diets reduced significantly the weight gain (9, 15 and 12 percent; p<0.001)) and feed consumption (7, 10 and 9 percent; p<0.004)), not modified the feed to gain ratio. In the other hand, in relation to fatty acids of abdominal fat, the inclusion of 100 and 150 g kg-1 FFSK reduced significantly the fatty acids C14:1 (83 and 83 percent; p<0.007), C16:0 (18 and 14 percent; p<0.005), C16:1 (48 and 39 percent; p<0.008) and C18:1 (13 and 8 percent; p<0.001) increasing C18:2 (16 and 10 percent; p<0.001). The fatty acids C20 and C22 were not modified. Finally, if we compare the fatty acids on the basis of unsaturated degree, observe that the inclusion of 100 and 150 g kg-1 of FFSK produced a decreased significantly of saturated (12 and 7 percent; p<0.001) and monounsaturated fatty acids (15 and 10 percent; p<0.002) and an increment (p<0.009) of polyunsaturated fatty acids (15 and 10 percent; p<0.009). In conclusion, the addition of FFSK in diets for broiler chickens produced a worsening of performance and an increment of unsaturated index (UI) of abdominal fat.
