Descripción
Sumario:[EN] To build the Baptism Portal it was necessary to make a series of drawings on the surface of the ashlar stones. Known as monteas, these drawings survived for over five hundred years but during the latest restoration most of them were lost or become practically illegible due to the cleansing of the stone and the use of a device to keep birds away. This paper discusses the data obtained from studies carried out prior to the restoration and reconstructs the monteas. It therefore documents and sheds light on these drawings, while simultaneously expanding the catalogue of these forms of graphic expression that have been identified at Seville Cathedral since the 1980s.
