Special attention is paid to the network support functionalities offered by the converters, such as frequency and AC voltage droop, but without losing sight of the physical limits of the converter and the different techniques to avoid exceeding them. On the other hand, the response of the HVDC link is compared with that of a synchronous generator model, detailing the importance of inertia and of the latter’s behavior as a voltage source. The interaction between the generator and converter support droops when facing a mismatch between generation and demand is studied.
