Sumario:This crayfish species was the most frequent and abundant in Spanish freshwaters in the XIX and XX centuries. In the 1970 decade the species practically disappeared as a result of both a fungal infection and overfishing arising from high prices. This is the story of such an environmental catastrophe in the Cuenca province, one of those where that crayfish was more abundant.
