| Resumo: | ENG: In this paper, the intention is to discuss the socio-economic status of the third census class, the zeugitai (small and middling peasants vs. farmers belonging to the leisure class), in the light of the organisation of the Solonian fiscal system. Particularly useful for this purpose is the analysis of an anecdotal passage concerning Peisistratus and a taxpaying Attic peasant of modest means.
