Sumario:In a society defined by the permanent proliferation of fears, the creation and dissemination of large dreads is turned into a political tool. In the same way, the predominant power always places the use of terror—or terrorism—within the framework of action of the enemy side as a way of creating a personification of evil and describing by exclusion power’s own action as positive and necessary, as it is normative and legal. Mass media, in collaboration with media politics, are responsible of transmitting fear and of perpetuating the normalized structural violence by the imposition of homogenizing behaviour patterns. As a consequence, criminalizing certain expressions of dissent becomes very easy, as the media can modify and direct public opinion, providing a justification for the promulgation of restrictive laws under the excuse of public safety and social transparency.
