Descripción
Sumario:[EN] The sedimentological regime of a watershed is directly tied to sediment production, which is primarily influenced by the utilization of natural resources within a geographical basin. In Chile, the General Directorate of Water (DGA, in Spanish) oversees sediment concentration and liquid flow (along with other meteorological variables) across the entire national territory. Using this data, some of the expressions of high mountain basins, called sedimentological patterns and studied by Bzdigian and López-Alvarado until 1985 have been updated, which relate the solid flow (GS) with the liquid (Q). These expressions, known as sedimentological patterns, relate solid and liquid flow using the equation GS = A·QB, where A and B are coefficients defined based on the hydrometeorological and morphological characteristics of the catchment. Changes in these patterns have been studied and applications evaluated, such as reservoir siltation and hydraulic structures characterized by sediment retention. The results show changes in sedimentological behavior, particularly an increase in solid flow in central watersheds during the thawing period. Additionally, the presence of reservoirs has led to a reduction in solid flow in watersheds with such structures. These expressions have also been applied to evaluate processes like reservoir siltation and sediment retention by hydraulic structures.
