Hi va haver molta discussió i els lingüistes van manifestar la intenció de confeccionar una llista d'èxits de la gramàtica generativa en benefici d'altres lingüistes i de l'àmbit en general. La llista ha estat esbossada i és força interessant, ja que presenta una imatge general dels resultats molt "passada".
