| Summary: | [EN]In Il Boccaccio riveduto e scorretto, Dario Fo and Franca Rame reinterpret The Decameron through their unique sensibilities. Both in the final version and in the autographs, significant space is dedicated to La prima novella napoletana, a rewriting of Novella III, 8. The driving force of the action is Ferondo’s jealousy towards Rosaria, a devoted and exploited wife; a jealousy that, within the Hegelian master-slave dialectic, leads him to be first dominant and then dominated. This study will analyze the linguistic pastiche of Napoletanesco used, comparing the extensive preparatory material with the Napoletanesco found in Lo Santo Jullare Francesco, with Fo’s levels of language, and with a Neapolitan-Italian vocabulary. Emphasis will also be placed on the crucial role played by Franca Rame in the work, highlighting her importance in linguistic matters as well. |
