| Sumario: | Previous studies support the need for further contrastive analyses to look into the differences between technical languages within particular fields and cultures. This paper focuses on the study and comparison of the German and Spanish scientific languages in the field of biotechnology. For this purpose, we described and examined the main characteristics of scientific language in Spanish and German bachelor theses with the aid of Sketch Engine. Our results showed relevant differences between both languages at the syntactic, morphological, and semantic levels, as well as general compliance with the universal stylistic features of scientific texts. |
