Sumario:Physical activity and sport habits, difficulties, beliefs, and motivations among older women in a situation of social exclusion are presented in the current study. Gypsy women who were older than 55 years from two marginalized zones of Madrid and Seville completed a set of 9 semi-structured interviews. The subjects included in the interviews included the practice, motivation, and belief in physical and sport activity. The obtained results indicate that there is a low rate of physical practice among elderly gypsy women that is due to the lack of a formal education in their childhood as well as early family commitments. More studies are needed to clarify and analyze in depth the situation of physical and athletic activity in the lives of older gypsy women as well as to propose new lines of action adapted to their context, expectations, and motivations
