Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This text presents a retrospective view of architectural drawing in the work of the Spanish architect Antonio Fernández Alba (Salamanca 1927). Fernández Alba is one of the great masters of the Spanish modern architecture. His continuous experimentation in different graphic languages and forms of representation of architecture gives him a key role in our history of architectural drawing. The use of shadows, colour, and representation systems in the plans of his projects show that technical documents can acquire aesthetic value by themselves through their own language, as he himself affirmed in his writings on the architect s drawing. During more than fifty years of professional career, he has created an enormous graphic legacy of notebooks, sketches and drawings of projects that is currently deposited in institutions such as Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Biblioteca Nacional of Spain, the School of Architecture of Madrid, the Association of Architects of Madrid, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
