Descrição
Resumo:Viva Jesús is an anonymous doctrine printed around the XVIIth century in which the author or translator's name does not appear and neither does the printer's mark. In spite of the importance the text has for understanding old Biscayan, little has been done so far to determine its origin and date. In this article, we shall do the following: in the first part, we shall try to summarize what has been said about this doctrine and in the second part, we shall present the existing copies and the data we have on them. In the third part, we shall proceed to analyse the graphic elements from the point of view of the material bibliography and we shall compare them with the works carried out by the printers around Biscay in order to discover where and when it was printed. Finally, with the help of the results of the analysis, we shall place the book within the history of printing in the Basque Country and we shall try to provide a new dating.
