Descripción
Sumario:At the moment there exist different articles, relating to the «casas de Misericordia», institutions of charity that had great importance during the eighteenth century. However, there are still practically no studies that analyze life within these hospices. For this reason, this article aims to study life in the «casa de Misericordia» of Palma, especially after the reforms of the year 1799, which marked a new beginning. We will study the way of life of the poor people, the different employees who directed the Misericordia and, finally, the punishments that were used to maintain social control.
