| Sumario: | [EN] Processes and mechanisms on the chemical alteration of glass sculptures are explained, both due to the glass chemical composition and to the environmental conditions effect, depending on the different places in which such glass sculptures could be conserved. Likewise, the origin and interaction of mechanical, optical and biological alterations are explained. Current remedial conservation procedures, as well as preventive conservation strategies for glass sculptures, are discussed according to the intervention criteria nowadays accepted. Finally, the different cases of conservation, both indoor and outdoor, are considered by means of real sculptures examples. |
