| Sumario: | [ANGLÈS] This document describes the procedure that has been followed to design an electronic system which purpose of functionality is as a processing unit for a digital coherent receiver. Before the design was started, a previous task of research and documentation was carried on in order to establish a minimum knowledge about fiber optic transmissions, especially those relying on a coherent detection scheme, discovering its features and impairments, so that the requirements and technical specifications of the system can be defined. Once the main idea is defined and the system specificatins are known, the full system is divided into modules that will be more easily handled separately and then it is described the selection process of available components in the market that, adjusted to a moderate budget and to a good accessibility, best fit the system needs. Some of the main components the system consists on are: high speed analog-to-digital converters (ADC), high performance FPGA, high density RAM memory and several connectivity and user interface elements. According to the different vendors' datasheets for every component, the sche-matic circuit is drawn, adding the corresponding external passive elements that every circuit requires to ensure the proper functionality. Finally, it is exposed the layout design procedure for all the different layers of the printed circuit board (PCB) and the spatial distribution of the components upon it. |
