Descripción
Sumario:The October Revolution lived debates and crossed positions in parallel to an explosion of artistic avant-gardes that joined the socialist cause, which was not exempt of problems. This article reviews the theoretical and practical relationship of some of the most politically committed avant-gardes with the Soviet nation and also deals with the other great style popularized at that time by critics and politicians: the so-called socialist realism. Thus, based on a comparative analysis of the statements and actions of the main representatives of both currents, the text aims to contribute to the clarification of the fundamental question: is there such a thing as a «socialist artistic method»? And, if so, what does it consist of; or, on the contrary, is it a diffuse term indistinctly appropriated by both schools?
