Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this research is to quantify, typify, locate and analyse traditional tourist accommodation (hotels, hostels and guesthouses) and the new forms of tourist rental (tourist flats and dwellings for tourist use) in the city of Cuenca over the last few decades, especially in the World Heritage Site. The methodology used has focused on the consultation of bibliography; the analysis and interpretation of data obtained from statistical and documentary sources; territorial analysis; fieldwork; and the use of the local press. The results obtained confirm the initial hypothesis, confirming that the offer of the new modalities has grown exponentially in the last decade, concentrating initially in the historic quarter, and subsequently in the extension of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century, while the hotels, all initially located in the new city, have been installed in the historic quarter after important interventions of rehabilitation of old underused or disused containers and the construction of car parks in different areas of the same.
