A calcium carbonate-supported α,α-diarylprolinol silyl ether prepared in this manner catalyzes Michael addition of aldehydes to trans-β-nitrostyrenes with very high diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The immobilized catalyst can be recovered by simple decantation and reused.
