Descripción
Sumario:The following work seeks to highlight the creation of the Junta da Fazenda do Brasil, created by Philip III, which was in operation in Portuguese America between 1612 and 1616 with the aim of putting an end to the fraud that were committed in the territory that comprised the “Estado de Brasil” during the first years of the union of crowns. Through the research of the regiment of creation and multiple documentation, we will analyse how it functioned, its composition, its prerogatives and the multiple problems it faced from the moment of its implementation. Likewise, the article explores the relationship that this institution had with the main political agent sent to the territory by the Habsburgs, the Governor General of the “Estado de Brasil”.
