| Summary: | [EN] This text presents an exploration of the potential of the photo-embroidery technique on a social level, describing the dialogue among the materials that interweave a narrative to re-signify photography, and with the help of needle and thread, weave stories with every stitch. It also outlines the discovery of its social value when collectives of searching mothers in Mexico have used it to reclaim the memory of their disappeared loved ones in collaboration with people in solidarity, collectively creating a space to weave support, hope, and the reconstruction of memory, as it is a non-linear writing technique to share life stories. Lastly, personal explorations of this technique are shared, in which the absence-presence of the disappeared person is represented, bringing visibility to them in the public sphere. |
