| Resumo: | Carnet occurs as an accesory phase mainly in the aplitlc facies of the Ponferrada Pluton (BoatLos Ancares Belt) (LeDuc, 1970; Su&rez, 1970). Three different types of garnet have been recognized on the basis of their morphology and textural relationships. Electron micropobe analyses reveal several zonation patterns mainly defined by the variation of Mn and Fe contents. The study of chemical zonation in garnet also proved to be useful in timing the growth of garnet with respect to quartz |
