| Sumario: | [EN] This thesis aims to research about the Norwegian pavilion projected by Sverre Fehn for the World Exposition 1958 in Brussels as an example of those architectures conceived as fleeting and over time has become eternal. The history of architecture is written primarily on permanent buildings; however it could establish a parallel development through those buildings that were born without that condition and, precisely for this reason, could advance to more ambitious destinations. The research covers the spatial and constructive project decisions during its development. Location, structure, materiality and lighting were the basis on which the architect is supported for a single purpose: create a space capable of representing their country at a particular time in its history and for a defined space of time. For better understanding, the thesis presents, in a preliminary phase, two frames of contextualization which approximate its understanding. Firstly, the concept chosen on the relationship between time and architecture. This is a research on the duration and permanence of the elements that define the space, from its most abstract concept to its most tangible interpretation. Secondly, the 1958 Universal Exposition in Brussels is presented as historical, social and architectural context, essential to position the building as a particular time. This thesis, in addition to recognizing the value of the building, also aims to praise the attitude of the architect, Sverre Fehn. His continued presence and commitment to architecture were first transmitted directly to the project and, later, the building built. This intensity finally defined the space that the public could enjoy for just six months built the building remained. |
