Estos permiten precisar la edad de las Unidades estratigráficas MS-IV (Tortoniense terminal - Messiniense o Turoliense inferior parte alta - Ventiense) y P-I (Plioceno inferior). Los dos más bajos, denominados Castro y Pantano de Elche (Pantel), datan la base del Turoliense superior (zona MNI2) y el Ventiense (zona MNI3), respectivamente; ambos se encuentran en la unidad MS-IV. El yacimiento más moderno, denominado Barranco de Fayona (Fayona) data el Rusciniense inferior (zona MNI4) y se encuentra asociado a un conjunto hasta el momento considerado de edad Plioceno superior.[EN] In the Neogene sediments of the Lower Segura Basin (Eastern Betic Cordillera) have been studied three localities with fossil micromammals. They yielded a fauna which date the stratigraphic units MS-IV (Upper Tortonian-Messinian) and P-I (Lower Pliocene). The two older, named Castro and Pantano de Elche (Pantel) date the base of the Upper Turolian (zone MNI2) and the Ventian (zone MN13) respectively; they both belongs to the unit MS-IV.
